Women in Golf - Dr. Savannah Gardner, TPI, & BB9

It is an incredible honor and privilege to partner with the Better Back Nine Foundation, a veteran run non-profit that provides post 9/11 special operations forces combat veterans with premium golf experiences. As a Titleist Performance Institute certified provider, I am able to further these experiences by providing participants with the same movement screens and swing assessments that the tour pros undergo.

By taking an in depth look at their biomechanics, physical fitness, movement quality and current health, we can combine all of this information to create an understanding of each individual’s body-swing connection. This allows the attendees to receive effective treatment and coaching throughout the week that extends beyond just improving performance; it's about enhancing the overall enjoyment of the game while addressing concerns such as pain management, injury prevention, and swing durability.

As a military spouse myself, I am profoundly grateful for the chance to support BB9’s mission and give back in such a meaningful way, showing the SOF community that their sacrifice is deeply appreciated.

The Better Back Nine (BB9) Foundation

A veteran-run non-profit organization that is making a profound impact on the lives of post-9/11 special operations forces (SOF) combat veterans. By providing premium golf experiences, the foundation is not only helping these brave individuals improve their physical and mental well-being, but also fostering a sense of camaraderie and community.

Involved in this initiative is Dr. Savannah Gardner, a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) certified provider. TPI is a global leader in golf fitness, specializing in the study of the body-swing connection. Dr. Gardner is deeply committed to supporting the SOF community. Through her partnership with the BB9 Foundation, she is able to leverage her TPI expertise to further enhance the experiences of the participants.

Dr. Savannah Gardner

During the BB9 events,

Dr. Gardner conducts in-depth movement screens and swing assessments, similar to those undergone by professional golfers. By analyzing the biomechanics, physical fitness, movement quality, and overall health of each individual, she is able to create a personalized plan that addresses their specific needs.

This approach goes beyond just improving their golf performance; it's about enhancing the overall enjoyment of the game while addressing concerns such as pain management, injury prevention, and swing durability.

The TPI methodology

is particularly beneficial for the BB9 participants, as it focuses on the three phases of movement: eccentric, isometric, and concentric.

Research has shown that eccentric-focused training can provide numerous performance benefits, including reduced risk of injury, improved strength and power output, greater movement efficiency, and enhanced muscular hypertrophy.

By incorporating TPI-based exercises and assessments,

Dr. Gardner is able to help the BB9 participants improve their hip and shoulder flexibility, dynamic balance, and overall swing mechanics. This, in turn, allows them to enjoy the game of golf more fully and potentially reduce the risk of injury, which is a common concern for many veterans.

Through her partnership

with the Better Back Nine Foundation and her dedication to the SOF community, Dr. Savannah Gardner is making a lasting impact on the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for our nation. By combining her expertise in sports medicine and her passion for supporting veterans, she is helping these brave individuals find solace and fulfillment in the sport of golf.
